Calendar Art well under way

Wow, wow, wow!  Room 21 your parents and your whanau are in for a treat with Calendar Art this year!

As part of our Culture Unit this term we have been exploring Pacific Island Art.  We have looked at a variety of Pacific Island motifs (patterns) and the most beautiful flower in the world, the hibiscus.  These two elements combined will make our calendar art.  We are going to be using a combination of vivid and pastel to create these master pieces.

Check out the photos below of the children perfecting their draft copies of their hibiscus flowers.  They're AMAZING!!  With the quality of their draft drawings, I can just imagine how sensational they're final copies will be!

A massive thanks goes out to Mrs Winters for her inspiration in creating this piece of art work.  They children really benefited from your artistic skills and your ability to breakdown the sketching into manageable steps so we could all be so successful.

Viewing of these pictures will be in Week 6 - so keep an eye out for newsletters going home stating the viewing times.
