Camp 2015

MERC Long Bay Experience 4th - 6th November 2015

We all know how valuable Outdoor Education is.  There is no subject quite like it for learning communication skills, problem solving skills, team work skills, survival skills, understanding the importance of responsibility, conquering our fears, helping and encouraging others, and experiencing life's greatest challenges.  The saying, "life begins at the end of your comfort zone' certainly applies to Camp and Outdoor Education.

This year our Year 6 Children had a 3 day camp at MERC, Long Bay,  With qualified instructors they were able to participate in a range of exciting activities.  Abseiling, rock climbing, kayaking, raft building, outdoor survival, slingshot, archery, orienteering, and mountain biking.  In the evenings we enjoyed technology problem solving challenges, a quiz night, beach games and a sandcastle making competition.

It was such a positive experience and one the children will remember for many years to come.  Congratulations to everyone from Room 21 who can honestly say they did themselves very proud at camp.

Check out these photos below and on a few more blogs that show us enjoying camp in 2015.  If any parents want copies of these photos, please ask your child to copy them onto their USB to bring home for you.  The paparazzi was certainly busy (441 photos alone from Mrs Whitehead) so there should certainly be a number of 'keepers'.
